Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull has urged farmers not go against the law by illegally clearing huge tracts of land.
There have been reports that change landowners are breaking the law by wanted clearing native vegetation, as they are angry at laws that defend them from removing trees on their rural properties.
Mr Turnbull has warned landowners they can face prosecution on illegal land clearing vegetation, such as land that has been bulldozed in the environmentally rational Gwydir wetlands in northern NSW.
